Code of Ethics of the ‘TRUMEN EVA’ Service Community of Professionals

This Code of Ethics of the community of specialists of the service ‘TRUMEN EVA’ (hereinafter referred to as the Code of Ethics of specialists) was created in order to define the key values and principles on which the activities of specialists of the service ‘TRUMEN EVA’ are based, as well as to create a trusting and respectful atmosphere in the interaction. 

All specialists of the ‘TRUMEN EVA’ service community must familiarise themselves with this Code of Ethics of Specialists, irrevocably and unconditionally agree with its provisions. The knowledge of ‘TRUMEN EVA’ specialists of the provisions of the Code of Ethics should help them to independently determine which of its provisions are applicable in a particular situation.

The key principles of the Specialists in the TRUMEN EVA Service are:

·        Ensuring respectful, courteous communication and interaction in the Service; 

·        absence of judgement and ‘toxicity’ in the professional field;

·        guaranteeing the safety and well-being of users, providing them with confidentiality and protection of their personal data 

·        building relationships based on trust and informing clients about the rules and specifics of the work; and about the limitations that may arise in the therapy process.

 

Responsibility to users

·        The specialist is responsible for the authenticity of the educational data provided. 

·        The therapist stays within the boundaries of his/her competence by providing services for which he/she is qualified and experienced;

·        The professional recognises the importance of his/her own emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. He/she watches for signs of exhaustion and burnout and takes measures to prevent them.  In the event of such signs, the Specialist:

* temporarily limits the number of clients,

* ceases practice until he/she has fully recovered,

* seek professional help.

·        The specialist also:

* shares knowledge about self-care with colleagues,

* accepts with understanding the comments of colleagues about his/her condition, if it may negatively affect the quality of work. 

·        The specialist realises the importance of improving the level of his/her professional competence: being in the process of continuous development, improving practical skills, enriching his/her horizons and exploring new things;

·        The professional is committed to continuous improvement of multicultural competence, recognising the importance of cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity. The professional actively combats any form of discrimination based on:

* race and ethnicity,

* gender and sexual identity,

* age,

* gender,

* occupation,

* level of education,

* socio-economic status,

·        The professional recognises the value and uniqueness of each person, respecting the individual characteristics and differences of their clients.  

·        The professional creates a safe and trusting space for the client, regardless of their views, beliefs or group affiliations.

·        The professional is aware of his/her own value system, views and beliefs, but remains neutral in the professional field and does not impose his/her opinion on the client. The professional creates a space for unbiased and impartial communication where the client can freely express his/her thoughts and feelings.

·        The professional is responsible for setting professional boundaries and maintaining a professional relationship with the user. The professional shall strictly observe professional boundaries and shall not abuse the relationship with the client, both during and after the work is completed.  

·        The professional does not allow the development of amicable, friendly, business, romantic or other relationships with the client, whether the work is completed or ongoing.  

·        The specialist avoids ‘exploiting’ users. The professional is aware of his/her powerful position in relation to users (power imbalance) and avoids exploiting users' trust and dependence in any spheres: domestic, economic, informational, emotional, etc. The professional informs the client that he/she has a powerful position in relation to users (power imbalance).

·        The Specialist shall inform the client about how and according to what rules the work is carried out, as well as about the specifics of the method in which he/she practices. Also, at the client's request, the Specialist shall provide the client with information about his education, experience and qualifications.

·        In chats with users, the Specialist should not be engaged solely in the promotion of his services. His main task is to provide qualified assistance to the client. Provision of services by the Specialist to a particular client is carried out in specially created chat rooms on the service.

 

Rules of the Service's chats.

The following ethical rules apply in the chats of the Service:

·        The rule of responsibility of all platform participants. You are fully responsible for your reactions to any content on the platform. Before giving feedback take responsibility for your reactions and analyse the nature of their origin, if necessary resorting to personal therapy or supervision.

·        Feedback rule - devaluing or competing interventions are strongly discouraged on the platform in a collegial circle. Your feedback on any kind of content should be in the form of ‘emotional feedback’. That is, you can write about your experiences from a ‘self’ position without getting personal. 

·        The rule of content sufficiency and correctness. Any educational content that is posted on the platform and in the chats is considered sufficient and correct in the opinion of the platform. Disputes or devaluation of content from the experts of the project are unacceptable. 

·        Hypothesis rule - a hypothetical focus of attention is worth pursuing on the platform in a collegial circle. Any information from the platform experts is a hypothesis of the peers, it is worth respecting this. Any hypothesis can be confirmed or refuted. In this case, disputes with the author of content on the platform are not allowed.

Privacy

·        Confidentiality is a fundamental principle of the relationship. The specialist is obliged to ensure the confidentiality of information received from the user in the process of communication, as well as information received from the service ‘TRUMEN EVA’ or information about the service ‘TRUMEN EVA’. 

·        The specialist informs the user about the methods, ways of storing confidential information about the user, as well as guarantees the service to ensure the security of the user's personal data.

·        No information about the client is used outside the professional field. The Specialist is responsible for the security of the User's personal data. In consultation with colleagues, the specialist does not disclose confidential information that could lead to the identification of the user.  The specialist ensures the anonymity of the user when discussing their case with other professionals. 

·        The use of case materials for educational or scientific purposes is possible only with the consent of the user - the specialist warns the user about the possibility of refusal. Audio and video recording of sessions cannot be made without the consent of the user.

Relationships with other professionals.

·        The professional recognises the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in working with the client and cooperates with other professionals as appropriate.

·        The professional recognises the competencies and responsibilities of colleagues, respects the values and goals of the institutions to which they are affiliated, and strives to maintain positive and respectful relationships with them. 

·        Professionals do not engage in bullying of their colleagues as this is contrary to the values of the profession. Criticism and comments should relate to the professional's actions, not his or her personality, and should be expressed in a respectful form of professional discussion. It is recommended to avoid public discussions, but to use professional tools (supervision, intervision, referral to the ethics committee) to resolve conflict situations. The Specialist comments on the work of his/her colleagues with sensitivity and respect.

·        If the Specialist learns of ethical violations by another professional, he/she first contacts the TRUMEN EVA service support team to resolve the conflict situation. 

·        The Specialist does not exploit his/her professional relationships and status with colleagues and subordinates in order to achieve unofficial contacts.

 

The specialist is guided in his/her work by the provisions of this Code of Ethics and the provisions of the Code of Ethics of the professional community to which he/she belongs.  The professional shall endeavour to continuously improve his/her professional competence and follow the ethics of professional activity.
